MURIC Calls On Muslims To Pray For Leah Sharibu And Others.

The Founder and Spokesperson for the Muslim Rights Concern, Prof Ishaq Akintola has called on Muslims to pray for Leah Sharibu And all others still in Boko haram captivity.

In a press statement issued on Monday, 6th May, 2019, the Islamic human rights organization called on Nigerian Muslims to seize the opportunity of the holy month and the spiritual power which Allah has endowed fasting Muslims to supplicate for the freedom of Christian girls like Leah Sharibu and the Chibok girls who are still in the hands of Boko Haram. The statement was signed by Professor Ishaq Akintola, Founder and Director of the organization.
“We must admit that the continued stay of Leah Sharibu and the Chibok girls in Boko Haram’s detention camp is a dark spot on Nigeria’s white linen.

“Whereas the Federal Government (FG), the Muslim Ummah and its leadership desire freedom for those innocent girls, the insurgents are keeping them in captivity in order to achieve their diabolical aims, namely, to embarrass FG, to use them as human shields, to boost their negotiation power and to use them as a tool for setting Nigerian Christians and their Muslim compatriots against each other.

“The overall objective of Boko Haram is to ignite a religious war. That was why they started attacking places of worship. It was when that ploy failed that they resorted to abducting Christian girls with the hope of provoking Christiandom. This is why Nigeria’s religious leaders must exercise extra patience. They must not play into the hands of the insurgents. They must refrain from emotional outbursts. Instead, they must sink their differences and come together in the name of humanity to fight the evil in their midst. We reiterate that terrorists have no religion.

“This is why Nigerian Muslims must use prayers to defeat the enemy and secure freedom for our daughters. We feel their absence in our midst. We feel the pain of their closest relations. Our hearts go out to them wherever they may be. Prayer is the sword of the believer and a family that fasts together evolves and retains an unbreakable spiritual bond. Nigerian Muslims must invoke the incomparable spiritual might of Ramadan to neutralize the supposedly invincible power of Boko Haram to set Leah Sharibu and the Chibok girls free.”
MURIC also called for prayers for peace, security, political stability and economic buoyance for Nigeria.

“Furthermore, we must use that special spiritual power of Ramadan to crush all powers of darkness and all agents of evil who are behind the incessant killings and kidnappings in Nigeria. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, ‘When Ramadan comes, Shaytan is put in chains’. It is high time Nigerian Muslims utilized this Islamic truism to destroy killers and kidnappers.

“Before we stop hitting the keyboard, we call on fasting Muslims to make freedom for Leah Sharibu and the Chibok girls their prayer points during this Ramadan. Pray that Nigeria is emancipated from ruthless killers and kidnappers. Pray for the exposure of rebellious subjects and enemies of peace. Pray for total security. Pray also for economic buoyancy and political stability”.

Kano And Hisbah Police.

It is well stated in the 1999 Nigerian Constitution that there shall only be one Police force called the Nigerian Police Force. But it seems Kano State is operating another Constitution in this country. The country has always feigned ignorance of the operation of Shariah Police in Kano hence their activities and operation keep expanding. From destroying crates of alcohol to arresting those who eat in public during Ramadan Fast. Ultimately, it will get to enforcing hijab on every woman walking on the street of Kano. The Nigerian constitution states unequivocally that citizens have rights to freedom of religion, conscience and thoughts. Does it now mean that the Shariah law supersedes the Nigerian Constitution? And what about Christians and atheists or people of other faiths who eat in public, are they free from Hisbah arrest? Even a Muslim who chose not to fast should be left alone. Everything must not be by coercion, the decision to fast should be of freewill and coming from the heart. The other question should be why has the Nigerian Police not acted to stop the operations of Hisbah Police in Kano? We all can remember the tussle and harassment of Peace Corp members by the Nigerian Police. There’s no doubt that there are two constitutionsin Nigeria, one for the North and one for the South: Religious Constitution for the North, Civil Constitution for the South.

Anglican Church Expels Two Homosexual Priests.

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Arochukwu/Ohafia Diocese in Abia State has expelled two priests from the priesthood over alleged homosexuality.

In a letter entitled: “Notice of dismissal from ministry”, dated April 29, 2019, and signed by Bishop of the Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Johnson Onuoha, circulated to all archbishops and bishops of the church said an investigation by the diocese, after it got wind of the allegation, confirmed that the two men were neck-deep in the act.

The memorandum which was also copied to the Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria and Bishop of Abuja, The Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, warned any persons dealing with the expelled clerics to be mindful as such could dent the image of the church.

Part of the letter read: “We wish to inform you that the following clergy have been dismissed from the diocese of Arochukwu/Ohafia. They are Rev. Chukwuemeka Duru and Rev. Solomon Chukwuzubelu Okonkwo.

“The report got to us that they were indulged in the act of homosexuality. We investigated and found them guilty of such accusation. We were left with no option than to withdraw their letters of order (licences and certificates of ordination) and dismissed them from the ministry.

“Therefore, anyone dealing with these persons should tread with care as such can drag the image of the church to the mud.”

Accordin to Sunday Sun, a secretariat staff at the Cathedral of All Saints Ugwuavo, Arochukwu confirmed the incident on telephone, on Saturday .

“Yes. We heard such thing, investigated and confirmed it. So, we showed them the way out. It’s not actually supposed to come from me, but the bishop. What you heard is true; there’s something like that,” he said.

Brunei Reverses Death Penalty For Gays.

Following wide condemnation from the international community and Human Rights activists, Brunei has reversed the death penalty slammed on gays in the small oil rich country.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the country’s ruler in a televused speech on Sunday said he would extend a moratorium on capital punishment and ratify the United Nations Convention Against Torture.
The announcement follows a global backlash to the country’s announcement in April that it would impose draconian new punishments, including death by stoning, for those convicted of gay sex, adultery and rape. Many international celebrities joined Human Rights Groups in seeking boycott of hotels owned by the country’s ruler in America. This may be a little relief for the LGBT community in Bruneias they still face discrimination, flogging, torture and imprisonment if caught.
